Ceremony of the Keys

On Friday 30th September 2022 the FHLBC will have the honour of joining MC Black and Yeoman Warder W.Bro Gary Thynne for the Ceremony of the Keys.

Please understand that entry into HM Tower of London, the viewing of ‘The Ceremony of the Keys’, the
use of The Tower of London Club and finally the services of the YW are provided free of charge.

Members are limited to a maximum of one guest in the first instance as the event is likely to be
oversubscribed. Should you wish to apply for more tickets, please email secretary@fhlbc.co.uk to be added to a waiting list.

Due to changing Government guidance in regards to Covid, bookings are subject to change or cancellation at the last minute. While the Tower allows a maximum of 50 guests this is also subject to change and may be decreased.
The minimum age for this visit is 18 years of age. Anyone found to be under 18 years will be denied entry. Those who are between 18 to 25 years of age are requested to bring proof of their age.
Any surplus after the expenses have been met will be shared between the Tower of London Club and Masonic Charities.
There are no catering facilities within the club.

PROGRAMME for the evening:
19:15 Meet outside main entrance to the Tower – The West Gate by souvenir shop
off Lower Thames St. What3words.com location is ///opera.gets.press.
19:30 Guided Tour of parts of the Tower including the Chapel Royal of St. Peter ad Vincula.
20:30 Drinks in “The Keys”, the Yeoman Warders’ Private Club.
The cost of the evening includes the first drink in “The Keys” Please state choice on form.
21:30 Watch the Ceremony of the Keys.
The Ceremony of the Keys is the traditional locking up of the Tower of London and has taken place
on each and every night, without fail, for at least 700 years. The importance of securing this
fortress for the night is still very relevant because, although the Monarch no longer resides at this
Royal Palace, the Crown Jewels and many other valuables still do! No photography allowed.
22:15 Return to Club.
23:00 Depart. Visitors must be off the premises by 23:15; guests have ranked the overnight
accommodation as consistently below 1* for the last millennium!

DRESS CODE: Gentlemen will not be admitted unless they are wearing a suit, sports jacket or blazer and a shirt
with collar and tie or bow tie; cardigans, roll neck sweaters, donkey or denim jackets, polo-, tee- or open neck
shirts are not acceptable. Ladies’ attire is to be in keeping with these standards – dress, trouser suit or blouse &
skirt/trousers. Tracksuits, jeans or denim of any sort, shell suits, training shoes are not appropriate forms of
dress for the Yeoman Warders’ Club. Ladies are warned that the cobbled ground surface inside the Tower makes it
inadvisable to wear high-heeled shoes
